2010’s

As the new century turned 10 years old I was once again deeply involved in manufacturing air compressors. I did find time slots to work on my large telescope project which you can see at spectrashift.com. My lab expanded and I started working intensely on laser fluorescence. I did some caving with the lasers and explored their use with fossils. In 2015 I met Dr. Michael Pittman and that started a long term collaboration using laser fluorescence that brought us to museums around the world to see spectacular specimens. By 2016 we were producing multiple papers per year on laser stimulated fluorescence. On the astronomy side, my friend David Healy passed away and I took over running his large 32″ telescope full time. Teaming up with Bruce Gary we began observing white dwarf stars with dust clouds around them in collaboration with some professional astronomers. This lead to being a coauthor in my first Nature publication. In 2019 I sold the compressor business and once again retired (hopefully) forever pursuing my science interests full time. 

In 2017 we built a home on our ranch in Wyoming and now spend summers there looking for fossils.
